PETITION TO STOP BILL 60 AND END THE ATTACK ON RENTERS

Whereas Doug Ford is a jobs disaster, focused on stunts and theatre while 800,000 people are out of work and unemployment is at a record high;Whereas Doug Ford wants to raise rents and make it easier for people to get evicted with Bill 60, an omnibus bill which includes major changes to tenant protections;Whereas Doug Ford has removed rent control on all new buildings in 2018 and now proposes to make evictions easier and rents higher;Whereas in Doug Ford’s Ontario, housing has never been more unaffordable — with renters facing high costs, limited supply, and young people losing hope of ever owning a home;Therefore be it resolved that we, the undersigned, call on Doug Ford and his Conservative government to:

1. STOP BILL 60 and end the attack on renters2. BRING BACK RENT CONTROL with fair rules so rents stay affordable.3. FIX THE LTB BACKLOG so renters get fast and fair hearings.4. CLOSE THE LOOPHOLES so corporate landlords can’t raise rents unfairly or push renovictions.5. SUPPORT MARIT STILES' HOMES ONTARIO to build supportive, non-market and permanently affordable homes.
